- Hi! My name is Phil, a fire fighter! I am going to help poor innocent creatures and things!
- Oh no! the cat needs help! well, the wire pole is 15 feet tall, and from my feet the angle of elevation to the cat is 24 degrees. So, How do I find the correct sized ladder? I can do sin(24)= 15/x, which makes the size of the ladder be 36.9 feet!
- Hurray! the cat is saved!
- Oh no! a house is burning! let me call the fire trucks!
- I need to find the angle of elevation I need to put the hose in! since the house is 25 ft and the distance from the house to the fire truck is 15 ft, I can do tan^-1 = 25/15, which comes to an angle of 59 degrees!
- Yay! the house is saved!
