In medieval England, during the year of 1212, the ruler was King John and many believed he was the WORST king in history. He comitted many unlawful acts in such as starving his opponents to death, killing his nephew and INCLUDING inprisoning his formal wife.

He also abused his power by imposing heavy taxes on his barons so he could pay for his expensive foreign wars. They were punished severely or had their property taken away if they refused to pay.
If you cannot pay, then you must pay with your property

At Runnymede (located beside the River Thames, now in the county of Surrey), on June 15, 1215, King John accepted the terms included in a document and it limited his powers.
