Storyboard Text

  • There once was a man named Gustavo who lived with his daughter Maria, in Mexico. They were very poor and Gustavo wanted to immigrate to a better place so Maria can live a better life. Gustavo worked in an agave field and couldn't afford to take his daughter to school. Gustavo lived in a very old trailer home along the beach that was very dirty and crappy. after years of enduring this, Gustavo finally decided that he would try to immigrate to the US. the only problem was that he did not have enough money to get across legally so he decided he would sneak across the border.

  • Tuscan, Arizona
  • After the Gustavo traveled across Mexico with Maria for a couple of weeks, they got to the United States-Mexico Border. They climbed over the wall and walked to Tuscan, Arizona for 2 days. Gustavo's father taught him English when he was young so he had no problem communicating with others in the US.

  • After a couple days of walking, Gustavo and Maria made it to Tuscan and found a really nice family that gave them a place to stay. After the family heard their story and the situation that they were in they let them stay because they felt bad for them. The house that Gustavo and Maria was much better than their old home because it was much more sanitary, comfortable, and it wasn't crappy either.

  • After a couple of days, Gustavo finds a job working on a cabbage field. With the help of the family that he is staying with, he got Maria enrolled in a school that is amazing. Using the money he had left, Gustavo bought an old truck that he could use to get around everywhere so they wouldn't have walk everywhere they went. even after a couple of days, Gustavo and Maria started to realize how much they loved their life in the US compared to their old lives in Mexico.
  • One day on his way to work, Gustavo was pulled over and then arrested because he was illegally living in the US.
  • Because Maria was an illegal immigrant as well, she was deported back to Mexico where she lived with her abuela because her father was in prison.
