In this scene it starts out raining and storming. There is a distance shot of the sergeant-major walking down the alley as foreboding music plays. The lights are flickering on and off. Then there is an overhead shot of him walking when lightning strikes revealing the body. The music has a huge beat drop as the lights speedily flicker. There is a close up of the sergeants face in horror then a cut to the monkeys paw. Curious music plays as the lights flicker on and stay on. A shot pans up again to the sergeants face as he has an idea written on his face. There is a close up shot of him grabbing the paw and a distance shot of him walking away with it. It cuts back to the body as the lights flicker on and off for the final time, zooming back on the body.
Hmmm...is that a paw? I don't know why but I should take it
The scene begins with classical music playing in the White family home. Herbert and his parents are laughing over dinner when the doorbell rings. The music fades out as a long take shows of Herbert running to the door. The music stops when the door is opened. The camera pans up to the sergeant-major who has an un-describable expression on his face. He sits there for a second before he steps in the house, getting water on the floor from the rain. There's a close-up of his face as he treads on the creaky floorboards, and sits in the old chair. The mom and dad peek their head and join the other two. They all sit as the classical music slowly returns, and makes their words covered by the music. The overhead shot pans as the soldier describes the monkeys paw to them.
You see, there was a spell put on it by an old Fakir. He wanted to show that fate ruled people’s lives, and that those who tried to change it would be sorry. He put a spell on it so that three different men could each have three wishes from it.
This scene starts with a warm fire crackling and Herbert is talking to his parents, laughing. There is classical music playing. Then the doorbell rings and there's a long take of Herbert running to the door to let the sergeant in. The camera pans up to the sergeant who has an indescribable look on his face. The music fades as he steps in, getting the ground wet from the rain left on his coat. There's a wide shot of the sergeant going to the living room and sitting down on a creaky chair next to the fire. He digs in his jacket and pulls out the monkeys paw. The music then returns as he begins to explain the history of the monkeys paw. The family is in shock as the sergeant then chucks the paw in the fire. The camera is on the fire as the paw starts to burn (it zooms out slowly). There's an overhead shot of the dads retrieving the paw and asking to take it. The music is still playing as the sergeant ponders and agrees, but he said the White family must use it wisely.
The first man already had his turn. I don't know what the first two wishes were, but the third was for death. That's how I got the paw, but I'm done. I would like to get rid of the paw, but you can have it if you promise to use it wisely.
This paw can be used for amazing things! What should we wish for?
After retrieving the paw, there is a sudden flash of white as the White family goes into their brightly lit kitchen. The classical music is still playing as the mom and dad debate over what their first wish should be. The music is all of the sudden turned off by Herbert who quickly snags the paw in an overhead shot. He breaks the silence and tells his parents that they should wish for 200 pounds. He holds up the paw, which has a eerie presence to it. In a front shot the dad grabs the paw back and makes the wish. A finger on the monkeys paw crackles as it goes down in a close up shot
