When ali was 12 he took up boxing under policeman Joe martin
while advancing through the amatur ranks he won the gold medal in the 175 pound division in 1960 Olympic games in Rome

On November 14, 1966 when Ali fought Cleveland Williams Ali landed more than 100 punches, scored four knockdowns, and was hit a total of three times




then on April 28, 1967 citing his religious beliefs he refused the draft into the U.S Army saying “I ain’t got no quarrel with them Vietcong.”


He was stripped of his championship and couldn't fight for the next 3 years as well as spending 5 years in prison
