  • Volcanos were linked to the Greek god Hephaestus. It was said that he forged mystical weapons for the other Gods inside his forge which was located in a volcano. He is also said to be the Greek god of fire and smithing.
  • Volcanoes shoot out gases and ash which can negatively effect the air and water quality. It also spews out molten hot lava, and destroys everything in its path. Another study shows that volcanoes can also contribute to climate change.

  • Some tools scientist use to predict volcanic activity are seismometers which can predict through ground vibrations, gas analyzers which detect changes in air quality, and remote satellites equipped to show changes in volcanoes.

  • A volcano is a mountain that erupts with molten rock, ash, and gases from beneath the Earth's surface. The three kinds of volcanic structures include calderas, which are created when volcanic craters collapse, and shield volcanoes, which have wide, low slopes.
