Storyboard Text

  • Before the Punic Wars Rome had control of the Italian Pennisula.
  • Before the Punic Wars Carthage had control of Northern Africa, Spain, Sicily, Corsica, and Sardinia.
  • The first Punic war was a naval battle. Carthage had a strong navy, but Rome had a strong army. Rome decided to bridge on to Carthage’s boat and use Rome’s army to attack. Rome won and gained the islands of Sicily, Sardinia, and Corsica
  • During the second Punic war, Hannibal of Carthage led his army to Rome on land using elephants as transportation. Carthage won a few battles, but they were worn out and defeated by Rome. Rome gained Spain as their reward.
  • During the third Punic war Rome burned and destroyed Carthage. Any Carthaginians that were left became slaves. Rome salted the ground so nothing could be grown. Rome won and gained Northern Africa.
  • After the Punic War Carthage was destroyed and Rome controlled the area. Rome was in control of the Italian Peninsula, Spain, Northern Africa, Sicily, Corsica, and Sardinia.
