- Dragons are four-legged, winged, with a fire-breathing mouth that Medieval people said came from the mouth of Hell.
- The entrance to Hell was often shown pictured a as monster's mouth in Medieval artwork.
- One researcher notes that Dragon legends appear in almost all cultures because humans are universally afraid of snake-like creatures.
- Dragons also have a liking to hoard gold and other treasures in a cave called a Dragon's lair.
