  • Hello. I am Jennifer and this is Carl and today we will be exploring his career as a logistician
  • Carl went to school and earn many degrees but started with an Associate's Degree in Logistics, then he got a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management. Finally he completed his Masters Degree in Business.
  • Ever wonder how Amazon ships so quickly and efficiently? Or how the military transports a huge variety of supplies and equipment, in some of the most adverse conditions? Logisticians make all that happen, all the while considering what is being shipped, the compliance of shipping details and declaration requirements from Customs Authorities when shipping to a foreign country, and doing all of this in the most efficient, cost effective manner possible, to benefit both the supplier and the customer.
  • Logisticians need excellent communication skills, the ability to multi-task, problem solve, be a team player, have an eye for detail, be computer literate, have the ability to work with inventory management software and other software that will support the logistics of moving goods.
  • In 2010, the median salary for a logistician was reported to be $70,800 per year. This is the equivalent of $34.04 per hour. Logisticians usually work 40 hours a week.
  • Carl usually works in his office while also going to meetings with members of administration to discuss effefctive ways to speed up connection between supplier and customer all while cutting costs to profit the company. Logisticians take care of Purchasing, Warehousing, Inventory, Delivery and Shipping and Transportation,
