The war beginsIn 1754, France and Britain went to war. The war started, because english colonists wanted more land and had started to encroach on French territory. This territory being the Ohio river valley. Both France and Britain believed they had claim over the Ohio river valley.
The Albany Congress/ the Albany plan of unionFor the war the British attempted to gain the support of the Iroquois tribe. The tribe decided to remain neutral in the war, so Benjamin Franklin suggested all thirteen colonies give up individual power and united under a central government. This plan however, was not fully accepted, because no colony was willing to give up their power.

The disaster of fort DuquesneIn 1758, the British attacked a French fort, named fort Duquesne, in an attempted to clear the French out of the Ohio river valley. The British were successful, however, the attack resulted in a mass of casualties for the British.
More British defeatsDuring the war the British had numerous losses. These losses include the battle of Fort Oswego, the battle of Fort William Henry, and the battle of Fort-Carillon.
William PittIn 1757, William Pitt was made prime minister of Great Britain. At the time, the British were quickly running out of resources and loosing the war. Pitt sent more troops to the colonies and funded the war effort, which in turn gave the British more of an advantage in the war He also promised the colonists that England would pay for the war, which later turned out to be a lie.
Battle of Quebec and the TreatyIn 1759, the British beat the French at the battle of Quebec. The war then ends in 1763, when the French sign the treaty of Paris. The French are then forced to give all of their land to the British and go back to France.
