- Welcome to Mesopotamia The Land Between the rivers. It is named that because it is located between the tigris and euphrates rivers. Mesopotamia is located in what is now modern-day Iraq.
- The people of Mesopotamia originally lived in the zagros foothills. Because of food shortages the villagers had to move to the open plains in-between the rivers.
- Farmers in the plains found it hard to grow crops.The water source wasn't always consistant. Sometimes the river flooded causing all the crops to wash away. But farmerds fixed this by building levees to keep the water in the river, and irragation systems to spread water equally to the crops
- Irragation systems had to be cleaned regularly to keep silt out. Because people needed to come together to solve problems that's how city-states came to be.
- As city-states grew, neighboring communities fought over the river. Water was really useful in a lot of stuff and the other cities were jealous.
- In conclusion, Sumer made advancements to help society become what it is now. Apple workers couldn't get to work to make products without wheels on a car.
