- Maybe we should forget about the gifts and focus on the importance part of Christmas, Della

- Oh no, my money isn't enough to buy Jim a gift.
- Della and Jim exchanged gifts. Della sold her hair to give him watch chain and Jim sold his watch to buy Della hair comb. Neither one of them will be able to use their gifts.
- Despite and errors, Della and Jim still love one another, and learn a valuable lesson about sacrifice and love to each other.
