Storyboard Text

  • At 8 o'clock every morning Louis XIV's personal servant would wake him up. This was followed by the arrival of the First Physician and First Surgeon, as well as the King's former wet nurse .
  • At least once a week Louis would go stag hunting on one of his estates, either Marly or Fontainebleau. He was known to be a first class shot.
  • At ten o'clock the King's grand supper was served. The meal was attended by many members of the nobility as well as the royal family. One thing to note was the fact that the king typically ran late so the meal did not start until 11:30.
  • After morning activities concluded Louis would eat breakfast alone in his room, however his brother would occasionally attend. This "small" meal would, at it's smallest, consist of three courses made up of many different dishes.
  • At the end of the day Louis would go to his room and say his prayers by the bedside. After this he would bow which meant,'Good Night'. At that sign the court would retire and he would go to sleep.
  • After his morning meal Louis would go to his study to feed and play with his pointers before continuing his daily activities.
