- "Couldn't you wait a few days, sir? I don't feel well, I have a fever..." He wrinkled his brow, thought for a moment, and took my pulse. "All right, son Come back to see me when you feel better. But don't wait for me to call you!" (Wiesel 52). This shows MVM by how Elie tricks the Dentist. Also just because it says "vs" doesn't mean always mean fight.
- Man vs Nature
- Though I tried to put it out of my mind, I couldn't help thinking that there were two of us: my body and I. And I hated the body. (Wiesel 85). This expresses MVS by how Elie is having a conflict with himself. Saying how he hates his body.
- Man vs God
- And every week, selection. A merciless selection... Yes, you are lucky." "Enough! be quiet!" I begged them. "Tell your stories tomorrow, or some other day."They burst out laughing. They were not veterans for nothing. (Wiesel 70). This shows how one of the hundreds of ties Elie goes through MVS. This particular one shows by how Elie is arguing with the veterans that are annoying him.

- An icy wind was blowing violently. But we marched without faltering. (Wiesel 85). This shows MVN by expressing how Elie marched through icy wind. And how he was very determined to do so.
- Behind me, I heard the same man asking: "For God's sake, where is god. And from within me, I heard a voice answer: "Where He is? This is where-hanging here from this gallows..." That night, the soup tasted of corpses." (Wiesel 65) This shows MVG by how Elie expresses his displeasure with God. He doesn't believe in god anymore after all the scenarios, that have happened.
