  • Intro
  • Movement
  • Location
  • Today, I will be showing you the Five Themes of Geography. Lets get started!
  • Place
  • Here is an example of movement. Movement is the way people, products, information and ideas move from one place to another.
  • Region
  • The Image on the left is an example of absolute location. Absolute location can be absolute (specific) as in coordinates of a map using longitude and latitude. The other is Relative: A location can be relative - examples: next door, nearby, a short drive, down the road a ways. Or, it can be in the same general location as another location
  • HIE and Outro
  • A place is an area that is defined by everything in it. All places have features that give them personality and distinguish them from other places. An example would be that a school would have desks, a gym, cafeteria, etc.
  • A region is an area that is defined by certain similar characteristics. Those unifying or similar characteristics can be physical, natural, human, or cultural.
  • There are three types of Human-environment interaction. How people depend, adapt, and modify the environment. An example for depend would be how we would get water from rivers. One for adapt would be how we made our homes stronger so they could survive disasters. Finally, for modify it would be how we made rivers for transportation and trade. There are the five themes of geography.
