- Elana was on vacation for 2 weeks and when she came back, she found out her 2 best friends started using drugs. At school, during lunch time, Elana and her best friends went to the bathroom together. Elana thought they were going in the bathroom to fix their hair and do normal ‘girly’ things, but she was wrong!
- What... are you guys doing?
- Raya, did you bring it?
- Yes, of course I did. I wouldn’t forget!
- How are those cool? They are legitimately drugs that can harm you, and where did you even get it from!?
- Oh we forgot to tell you! We started taking these cool things called Ecstasy.
- Ugh! Lighten up a bit El.
- Raya I already said, it's not good for you! So, no, and could you guys please stop using it! I don’t want it to hurt you.
- It’s a longggggg story.
- Come on El! I promise you it's sooo good. It takes away all your problems in an instant and makes you feel so good. That’s how we cope with stress!
- Whatever. I obviously won’t need it but…
- It won’t. I promise! Plus, if you don’t wanna take it now. Then, maybe just save a pack for later. Who knows, right?
- A few weeks later Elana found herself really stressed. She started thinking back to what one of her best friends said about the drugs…
- “I promise you it's sooo good, it takes away all your problems in an instant and makes you feel so good. That’s how we cope with stress!”
- She then thought about it and suddenly had the urge to try it. She kept having to remind herself how bad it is for her and that there are other ways to cope with stress... She shrugged it off and then decided to start studying for next week’s Math Test. But, after an hour of frustration with trying to solve the practice questions, she remembered that Hanna gave her a packet of Ecstasy, just in case.
- She fought the urge to use it but the words that Raya had said, came back to her.
- “Stress...take...away...feel...good.”
- Elana bursts into tears, on her knees. Her life is officially over. All because she decided to try to get a moment of relief from the drug.
- Then, she decided to give into the temptation. She took the packet from her backpack and right as she’s about to swallow it, her mom walks through door! She. Got. Caught. Red-handed!
- Elana? What’s that in your hand?
- Give me that!
- Uh- mom? It’s- It’s nothing! Just the rockets candy.
- Elana’s mom, who’s a pharmacist, grabs the packet and pill from her hand and realizes it’s a drug.
- Elana! Why in the world are you using Ecstasy? Are you insane?
- M-Mom! It’s not what it looks like!
- Who did you even get this from? You know what… I don’t care.
- Mom! Please. I wasn’t going to!
- Not another word, young lady! You are grounded for a year.
- No mom! No! Please no! No…
