  • Plants and nature are so beautiful!
  • What do they need to live and eat, Dad?
  • Plants need solar energy to produce oxygen and chemical energy stored in glucose. Plants then take carbon dioxide and water from the air and soil. This whole process is called photosynthesis, son.
  • Ohhh right, so that means that plants create their own food?
  • Exactly son, unlike animals, plants are autotrophic and create their own food. That makes herbivorous animals obtain energy by eating plants.
  • You see, I was right. But, where exactly do plants store all the energy dad?
  • Inside the plant cell are small organelles called chloroplasts, which store the energy of sunlight.
  • Wow, this topic is very interesting. But then, why are the plants green daddy?
  • It's simple son, look. Within the thylakoid membranes of the chloroplast is a light-absorbing pigment called chlorophyll, which is responsible for giving the plant its green color.
  • Thank you so much for explaining this topic to me so well dad. you should be a teacher hahahaha.
  • Hahahaha, you're welcome son. When you want to know more about another topic just tell me.
