  • In 1872, Susan B Anthony illegally votes in New York. The first woman to cast a protest vote in order to begin the fight for women's right to vote in America.

  • Susan B Anthony goes down in history as one of the pivotal figures in the movement of women's suffrage, with the amendment for women's right to vote being nicknamed after her.
  • While women gained the right to vote in 1920, Susan B Anthony unfortunately never got to cast a legal vote herself, as she passed away in 1906.
  • Starts government regulation of forests, rivers, and lakes.
  • President T. Roosevelt begins the American movement to preserve nature and wildlife.
  • These reforms lead to the National Park Service being founded by Roosevelt, saving more than 234 million acres of American wilderness.

  • Prohibition came in the form of two Government acts. The ratification of the 18th Amendment and the Volstead act. Volstead, a republican congressman was a champion of the Prohibition cause.
