Punic wars

The first battle was on water. The Romain army was better at fighting on land. So they made it a land fight by making bridges that hooked on to the Carthage ships and they fought on there ships.

The Romains end up winning the first battle.

Your going to be a slave now!!

I love how Rome is a republic and we can vote

Carthage is gaining lots of power and wants to take over Sicily too.

Maybe we should go to war

Before the war Rome was a representative republic. The empire was very small but wanted more land.

Rome wanted to take over Sicily but so did Carthage .

The Romains also want to take over Sicily. We might go to war.

Hopefully our military is prepared.

Well they are coming on our ships!!

The Romains are better at fighting on land not water. So they make a bridge with hooks that will attach to the Carthaginian ships. That made it easier to fight.

We are excellent sailors so this will be a piece of cake.

We just need to get trough Spain then attack Rome from the north.

Hannibal Barca (a Carthaginian general) decideds to attack from the north of Rome. They take elephants and travel all the way through Spain to Rome.

The Romains send groups of the army out to wearing them on the trip to Rome.

Haníbal Barca begins to head back to Carthage, but the romains have sent 30% of there military to Carthage.

The Romains win again.

Even though Carthage was defeated. Cato the elder wanted to make sure there was no chance of them ever coming back.

The city was burned and destroyed, anything of value was taken back to Rome, every living person was sold to slavery, and they sprinkled salt on the ground so nothing could grow.

Rome won the final war.

We won! High five!

Before the war Carthage wanted to take of Sicily too.
