Storyboard Text

  • Hello my name is bob and I am a park ranger. I sit on this tower, and look out at everything that is happening. Come and join me on my adventure.
  • Today I was sitting on my tower when I saw a baby bear roaming around. The tower I was sitting on today was 100ft, and I am looking down at 45 degrees. I need to find the distance from how far the bear is from the base of my tower. To do this I did Tan 45 °=100/x. When I did this, I figured out that I have to travel 100ft to save the baby bear.
  • Today on my job I was assigned to save a nest of birds from a roof. In order to do this I needed to figure out how my ladder reached. I had a 16 foot ladder, and it made a 34 ° angle with the wall. In order to figure out how far the ladder reaches I did cos°34=x/16. When I solved this I got 13.3 feet which is perfect, because the bird's nest was at 13 feet.
  • There is a spider that is 40 feet off the ground, and the web is 42 feet long. I need to find the angle of elevation. In order to find it I did sin^-1(40/42). The angle of elevation is 72.2°.
  • That was my adventure as a park ranger this week, see you next time?
