Storyboard Text

  • During the American Revolution, the term Loyalist referred to American colonists who remained loyal to the British Crown and opposed the movement for independence from Great Britain.
  • But, sir, I have friends on both sides. I can't choose one over the other.

  • I can't believe those rebels attacked us again. We need to put an end to this.
  • It's not that simple. We have families and businesses here. We can't just abandon them.
  • That's the problem with you loyalists. You sit on the fence and refuse to pick a side.
  • Some Loyalists actively supported the British war effort by serving in the British military or supplying troops with provisions and equipment.
  • But what about our families and businesses? If we choose the wrong side, we could lose everything.
  • We must make a decision. We can no longer sit on the fence. We must choose a side.
  • I agree. We need to think this through carefully.
  • I understand your concerns, but we must make a choice. If we remain neutral, we risk being seen as traitors by both sides.
  • We see a group of loyalists fighting alongside the British soldiers. They are outnumbered and outgunned, but they continue to fight.

  • We made a choice, and we will live with the consequences. The loyalists disappear into the wilderness, unsure of what the future holds.
  • Loyalists also engaged in political and diplomatic efforts to support the British cause. They lobbied the British government to take a more conciliatory approach to the colonies and to offer greater rights and freedoms to loyal subjects
  • I say we can't take this kind of tyranny anymore. It's time to stand up to the British
  • But how can we possibly win against the greatest army in the world?
  • We have to believe in our cause. We're fighting for our freedom, for our rights as Americans.
  • You are all under arrest for treason against the crown.
  • We have done nothing wrong. We're just fighting for our rights as Americans.
  • Your rights as Americans are subject to the rule of His Majesty, King George III. You will be taken to prison and await trial. The patriots exchange worried glances as they are marched out of the tavern, their muskets confiscated.
  • Remember why we're here. We're fighting for our families, our homes, our land.
