  • Causes of the War
  • The War of 1812
  • Trouble with Native Americans
  • Land Battles
  • My two reasons why the US went to war with Great Britain in the War of 1812 are the destruction of the Chesapeake and the trade restriction with any enemy of Great Britain. The reason why the destruction of the Chesapeake was a reason to go to war is because all the sailors and workers on that ship either died, got seriously injured, or was forced to work on a vessel for Great Britain. My other reason is because the US could not trade with Britain's enemy's.
  • Sea Battles
  • The Indians started using British made weapons after they stirred up trouble by the Mississippi river. The Native Indians were forced to help the British fight in the war and were given the new model tools to help them fight the Americans.
  • The Battle of New Orleans
  • The land battles began because the War Hawks got overjoyed when the 1812 war started. The hawks thought that conquering Canada was "a mere matter of marching".
  •
  • A US naval force under command of Oliver Hazard Perry captured a British fleet of six ships on Lake Erie. Perry's victory enabled William Henry Harrison to push up into upper Canada.
  • The British had just surrendered to U.S. forces after the battle of Lake Champlain in New York two days before the unsuccessful attack on Baltimore. The U.S. ended winning this battle and was the greatest U.S. victory of the 1812 war.
  • As the result of this war, although both sides claimed that they won neither of them did. The problems of impressment and ship and seizures faded away as peace settled over Europe. The war still had important affects.
