Acadians, if you want to stay in Acadia then you will have to help us battle with the French.

IN 1730, the British required the Acadains to take the oath of allegiance. This oath stated that if the Acadains wanted to stay in Acadia they would have to help the British.

In 1713, when Britain took control of Acadia they wanted the Acadians to leave within a year. Unfortunately the Acadians didn't want to leave so they stayed.

The British declared the oath of allegiance

No!!! We wont take the oath!!

The Acadians said no!

You good for nothing Acaidans, give us your possessions!

The British didn't like the sound of the word no so they took the Acadians land homes and other possessions and decided to deport them to the Thirteen Colonies,England and to france.

OH NOOO!!!

During the great deportation, some acadians tried to escape with the help of the mi'kamq first nation. Sadly, they were caught by the british and were deported.
