- Convict Derek Chauvin!
- George Floyd is killed by Derek Chauvin, a Minneapolis police officer. Floyd was accused of using a counterfeit bill at a store. But using a counterfeit bill definitely isn't punishable by death.
- Protests break out in Minneapolis and around the country. They're pushing for the courts to convict Chauvin of murder and not just let him "get out of jail free." The protests work, and Chauvin is convicted.
- Derek Chauvin is convicted of murder and sentenced to prison for 22 years. This might not have happened if not for the protests. This proves that the protests actually helped.
- Rosa Parks is forced to move to the Black section on a bus. She refuses and is arrested for violating Jim Crow laws. This inspires many people to boycott the Montgomery bus system.
- Black people in Montgomery boycott the bus system. The boycott lasts for slightly over a year, from December 1955 to December 1956. A lawsuit was filed during this time against the city of Montgomery, demanding that segregation like this become illegal.
- The ruling Browder v. Gayle took effect on December 20. It was ruled that bus segregation was unconstitutional in the United States District Court. The city and state appealed it all the way to the Supreme Court, who agreed with the District Court. The mayor resisted the ruling, but was eventually forced to implement it.
