- Hi I'm Thomas Jefferson. I am the 3rd president of the United States. I purchased the territory of Louisiana for 15 million, but the land is unknown. I need people to explore the land before people can expand West. I asked explorer Meriweather Lewis to help.
- My name is Meriweather Lewis. I was sent by Thomas Jefferson to explore the unknown territory bought in the Louisiana purchase. I'm traveling with caption Clark, but we need someone to help us understand the Native Americans we encounter.
- Hi, I am Sacajawea . I helped lead the Lewis and Clark expedition by translating languages to help them communicate with the Native Americans.
- Since I was a women, my presence helped the other tribes understand that we came in peace.

- On the journey, I discovered new plants and animals, and brought back journals with details.
- I also mapped uncharted land, mountains, and rivers.
- We did encounter a few conflicts, such as injuries, starvation, and disease
- I helped feed the group by showing them edible plants, and i helped obtain horses,supplies,and Shoshone guides from my tribe.
- When the journey ended, my husband recived money and credit for the work I had done.
- After the expedition, I wasńt an effective governer, and drank to much. I died in 1809 of gunshot wounds. (Most likely suicide, but some suspect murder).
- Buying the new land put the nation in dept and withe the country being larger, it was harder to govern. Ialso overstepped my consitutional authority by buying the land.
