Where are we going first?
First stop is Glycolysis
This is Glycolysis... it happens in the cytoplasm. Glucose breaks down into pyruvic acid
2 ATPS are produced and 4 hydrogens!
And oxygen is NOT present in this so its called anaerobic respiration
Where's our second stop?
In the mitochondria
Our second stop is the Krebs cycle. This happens in the mitochondria. Oxygen is going in and carbon dioxide is coming out.
In this stage two ATPs are produced and 16 hydrogens. Electrons are carried in NADH and FADH2 to the next stop...
Now onto our final stop!!
This is the third and final stop. Its called the Electron transport chain.
Oxygen is going into and water is coming out. It produces 32 ATPs!!!
