- Where are we going first?
- First stop is Glycolysis
- This is Glycolysis... it happens in the cytoplasm. Glucose breaks down into pyruvic acid
- 2 ATPS are produced and 4 hydrogens!
- And oxygen is NOT present in this so its called anaerobic respiration
- Where's our second stop?
- In the mitochondria
- Our second stop is the Krebs cycle. This happens in the mitochondria. Oxygen is going in and carbon dioxide is coming out.
- In this stage two ATPs are produced and 16 hydrogens. Electrons are carried in NADH and FADH2 to the next stop...
- Now onto our final stop!!
- This is the third and final stop. Its called the Electron transport chain.
- Oxygen is going into and water is coming out. It produces 32 ATPs!!!
