Storyboard Text

  • New York Times bestselling author Jason Reynolds
  • Ghost Running for your life, or from it?
  • = Sunflower Seeds
  • Let me guess, sunflower seeds?
  • Let me guess, a dollar?
  • I'm here to prove I can run fast!
  • Who are you and what are you doing here?!
  • Running. That's all that Ghost (real name Castle Cranshaw) has ever known. But never for a track team. Nope, his game has always been ball. But When Ghost impulsively challenges an elite sprinter to a race-and wins-the Olympic medalist track coach sees he has something: crazy natural talent. Thing is, Ghost has something else: a lot of anger, and a past that he tries to outrun. Can Ghost harness his raw talent for speed, and meld with the team, or will his past finally catch up to him?
  • No good?
  • They were amazing... maybe I'll come back for them later.
  • Ghost (or Castle Cranshaw) walks into Mr. Charles' country store (even though it's located in the city) to buy sunflower seeds. Ghost has known Mr. Charles for quite some time (3 years to be precise).
  • What about me? Where's my uniform?
  • Those shoes you stole IS your uniform!
  • Ghost walks and sits down at a park, where a track team is conditioning. He has the urge to take on one of the sprinters and walks up to them. He ends up winning and the track coach sees he has something.
  • I have one last chance. I better not blow it.
  • Ghost walks into the sporting goods store to look for some track shoes. He finds some and finds out they are way to expensive. so while the shopping assistant isn't looking, he slips them into his backpack and walks out of the store
  • Ghost's coach goes to the same sporting goods store that he stole the shoes from to get uniforms for the team. When he gets there he sees a picture of Ghost on the window saying, shoplifter. So his coach doesn't get him a uniform.
  • And without a proper uniform, you can't be on the team!
  • Ghost's coach gives him one last chance to run on the track meet on saturday. If he does well, he can be on the team. If not, then he can't. What will happen? Who will win? The answer lies in the next book.
