  • The Romans used many Greek architectural styles but also added from them, took unique ideas from other cultures and made new advancements.
  • The Greek influenced us in architectural advancements!
  • One style they took was the columns. They took this idea on the Pantheon in Rome. Buildings were designed to be viewed from outside because their architects all had to rely on a post-and-lintel system.
  • Lets implement the use of columns in structures.
  • Great idea!
  • They used two upright posts, like columns, with a horizontal block, known as a lintel, laid flat across the top. Roman architecture differed fundamentally from this tradition.
  • The Romans were great architects. They contributed aqueducts, which are long stone channels that bring clean water. The Romans had a great road system.
  • Over here, we have an example of a aqueduct! Truly a great invention
  • They developed concrete in the early times. They became interested with shaping interior space rather than filling it with structural supports. This made the insides of their buildings just as impressive and unique as their exteriors.
  • Romans contributed many to modern society. Not only did historical sites like the Colosseum and Pantheon show how architecture was unique before, but also was the foundation of the new technologies and architectures today.
  • I wonder what it is like in modern society...
