Storyboard Text

  • The United States were dealing with the post WW2 boom, the dawn of the cold war and great movement in the civil rights movement. Buddy Holly, Bill Haley and the Comets were very big. Buddy Holly had controversy for his treatment of the crickets. The civil rights had changed how the United States would act and how they treat each other. Buddy Holly was liked until his controversy with the crickets.
  • President John. F Kennedy was elected and the USA entered the Vietnam war. There were many bands of the time Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and much more. Many of them wrote songs about the Vietnam war with varying feelings. These bands are seen as legends in music and there is still arguments and disagreements about the Vietnam War. These had millions of fans and combined had all of the influence in the music world.
  • The Watergate scandal involving Nixon and his party happened. Aerosmith came out with their own very unique style of music. Steven Tyler who as a member had many controversies and arguments with the other members . Aerosmith had slower and sadder music which is very different from the more rock n roll other bands did. They were very popular having many tours and thousands of fans.

  • The Cold War was coming to a peak and with the Berlin wall coming down. The rise of more grunge and metal music bands like AC/DC, Motley Crew, and Guns n' Roses were at the forefront of the new style of music. AC/DC were under much controversy for there suggestive and sexual lyrics that was abnormal for the time. They popularized the grungy more aggressive style of music this would pave the way top other bands success like Linkin Park and more. AC/DC was and is the face of metal more aggressive form of music.

  • The 1990's was a milestone in history as internet was growing ushering in a new age. In the 90's punk rock was more popular and at the forefront of this popularity was the legendary Nirvana, Red Hot Chill Peppers and Green Day. Green Day was known for making music with themes of depression anxiety and sexuality. Which was a very hot topic at the time and made them very controversial. Kurt Cobane the lead singer in Nirvana killed himself. Green Day's themes of mental health and the tragic death of Kurt Cobane due to a overdose then a gunshot this shined a light on mental health and made it a real issue for many to talk about. These bands at millions of fans and went of countless numbers of tours they were the talk of America during their time.

  • The age of Punk Rock carried into the 2000's with many new bands and artist like Paramore embodying the Punk Rock aesthetic. The world changing events of September 1, 2001 with the terrorist attack on the world trades center this changed our security and out freedoms forever. Paramore made a tribute to 9/11 in one of their songs. Paramore was a great supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. everybody thought the events on 9/11 were horrific and many bands made a tribute to this event. Paramore was big having a #1 at US albums chart and they released many sings that were hits and widely liked
