  • The Black Plague came to Europe in 1347 in ships full of infected people and animals.
  • 
  • When the ships arrived people came with a cough, fever, blue spots on their skin and with respiratory distress.
  • The Black Plague spread throughout the world killing between 30 and 60 percent of the world's population.
  • The origin of the Black Plague was an outbreak caused by a bacterium "Yersinia pestis" originated in Mongolia and from there spread to Asia and Europe.
  • 
  • The great loss of population brought economic changes based on increased social mobility as depopulation eroded the obligations of peasants to remain on their traditional lands.
  • 
  • The corpses of the dead were kindled. Then there was a large fire that killed, displaced and scared away the rats and the rat population decreased. The Black Plague was controlled with effective methods to combat it were: phytosanitary such as quicklime, fire and better sanitation.
