Storyboard Text

  • In the beautiful Barron home, Harris enjoys listening to music and the daily news on the radio with his mother and father. He loves his family and the house they live in. It is big and pretty.
  • One day, while on their walk, they find people outside of a building. They are angry, yelling about needing more job opportunities and needing a bigger loan. Harris is confused, and his father tells him that a lot of people are not as lucky financially as them due to businesses having to close.
  • One night, Harris overheard his mom and dad crying downstairs. His dad's company had to shut down, and they would have to lose their house due to not being able to pay the bills. His mom knew of a place to stay, but it was not going to be easy living.
  • In the next couple of weeks, the Barron's lost the house and all their belongings. They moved into these small little shacks the neighbors called Hooverville homes. Harris' parents continued to barely survive and keep him well, so they made the difficult decision of sending him away.
  • The day came for Harris to go and live with some family towards the West. There, he would be able to live comfortably and continue listening to the radio and music. Harris was sad though because he would not be with his mom and dad.
  • Harris began to enjoy life with his aunt and uncle near the west coast, being able to live a normal life. Here, they wore many long elegant dresses or fancy button down shirts, a life Harris had not lived for a long time. However, he still misses his mom and dad, and hopes one day he will be able to live with them once again in their old house.
