- Abraham Lincoln was born on Feburary, 12th, 1809 in Larue county, Kentuky. While growing up he lost his mother at the age of 9, and took a number of odd jobs that lead into adulthood. He was a railsplitter, boatman, manual laborer, store clerk, soldier, store owner, election clerk, postmaster, surveyor, state legislator, lawyer, Congressman, and President of the United States.
- He soon met Mary Ann Todd, and soon mary her. They have the total of 4 sons, but sadly only one lived to adulthood.
- As soon as Abraham came into office in 1861. the government was very much in turmoil, and soon many people in government office began to leave and states began to succeeded from the union, and formed the conferate states of america.
- The reason why disliked Lincoln was the right to own slaves,and they worry that this repulican president might take away the rights of plantation owners.
- Then in April, 12, 1861 the confederate army attacked fort Sumter, starting the american civil war that will cause a lot of damage, take 618,222 lives, last for 4 years, and change the course of american history forever.
- Soon before the war ended the president gave the emancipation proclamation, went to the battle grounds of Gettysberg and gave the gettysberg adress, and finally passed the 13th admendment. Ending slavery once and for all. Then sadly he was assassinated in April, 14th 1865.
