- Mountain men were rugged individuals who traveled west for the fur trade and used survival skills to map out and exploer oregon county. mountain help steal land by building forts and paths and helping others across mountains so they can kill and stael from natvie amercans.

- pioneers who meant at Independence MO to begin the 2000 miles journey to Oregon or California they faced disease, fatal accidents,death, and starvation. thousands of people travel west which would spread disease to native Americans and kill them but yay more land for the whites.

- Americans think they're better than everyone else and wish to share this so called greatness to people in the west they also believe its their god given right to do so. it justified and made more Americans want to move westward .

- mexico was mad at America for bringing Texas into the union because they believe that Texas was earned Thur some shady business. which it was any that lead to a 20-month-war in the end america won the war and gained California, new Mexico, and Arizona ..
- the Mormons faced a lot of prosecution due to their religion wherever they went. so the leader decided to move west Utah to be exacted thousands of the Mormons went to settle. that settlement became salt lake city which encouraged others to move west
- in 1848 the California gold rush began which was a gold rush (shocker). brought a rush of people 1000's of them settled which made California a state.
