- Hi excuse me, are you Dr. Jones?
- Yes I am, what can I help you with?
- I am a student as UMass Lowell and I want to be a scientist. I was wondering if you could answer some questions I have about the cell cycle?
- Yeah sure! Come follow me to my office so we can talk.
- So what questions do you have for me Ms..?
- Oh Brooke is fine thank you. But just a couple. My first one is, how do organisms grow?
- Well, individual cells grow and then split through a process called mitosis.
- Oh cool! That leads me to my next question. What happens to a cell as it grows?
- As it grows the internal volume expands as well as the cell membrane.
- Ok one more question. How do cells make more DNA?
- The double stranded DNA molecule replicates to produce two identical DNA molecules.
