- John needed a home but how can you make a home with no wood till he saw his son playing with mud
- John done with their home needed a steel plow for farming to break through soil it made up for the lack of man power on the farm. As well as water source, Ground water well was the best option for water, hundreds of feet dug down to tap into water.
- To power the groundwater well a windmill. I will power the pumps that brought ground water to the surface
- Ummm, barbed wire the new invention it will enclose crops animals and our range of land.

- But father what about keeping cattle in and cowboys put?

- John and his family stayed, and things were looking up but other settlers left because the hardship was too much. The effects of settlement clashed with the natives closing the open range and increased cattle and crops introducing the cowboys
- John Murphy and his family along with many others took the opportunity. Walking into an open rang which did not belong to anyone til now.
- The conditions of their new home were brutal, lack of materials for a home, lack of rain, fuel, extreme temperatures and completely isolated
