  • How does the greenhouse effect work?
  • Greenhouse Gases
  • Leading to global warming
  • The electromagnetic radiation from the sun is divided into a broad range of wavelengths. The other atmosphere will absorb other wavelengths but the visible light gets through. Normally it will be reflected back into the space by clouds in the atmosphere.
  • Runaway greenhouse effect
  • However, Because of the vibrating greenhouse gases (Carbon dioxide, Methane, Nitro Oxide, water vapour) energy will be trapped inside the atmosphere by bouncing around those greenhouse gases, making some of the energy going back to the earth surface, and some into the space. Therefore , the increase in the amount of greenhouse gasses will decrease the chance of energy, bouncing back into the space, allowing the heat energy release from earth.
  • Runaway greenhouse effect
  • When there is too many greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the chance of the heat and light energy going out from atmosphere will be lower. Creating a more warmer atmosphere.
  • As a result...
  • A runaway greenhouse effect is a process that results in increasing greenhouse gases respired into an atmosphere of a celestial body over time, and thus decrease greenhouse gases deposited into that celestial's interior over time, the net effect of which is increasing atmospheric temperature over time. The earth don't have a runaway greenhouse effect.
  • Imagine about the Carbon cycle, (Carbon is a greenhouse gas). If this tree takes in the same amount of Carbon dioxide and produces the same amount of Oxygen, this forms the Carbon cycles and means that the amount of CO2 and O2 is maintained in an equilibrium. However, if the tree takes in less Carbon dioxide and produce more Oxygen, this leads to the increase of greenhouse gases, creating the runaway greenhouse effect.
  • More and more heat will be trapped in the earth's atmosphere, the temperature of the earth will increase and global warming will become more worser and worser.
