- Baby Coyotito is bitten by venomous scorpion in bed

- Kino and the family hurry to the doctor with many other villagers following.
- 6
- They approach the doctors house anxiously, and ask the gatekeeper to see him.
- The gatekeeper talks to the doctor and tells him what is happening. The doctor tells him he will only treat them if they have money but they only have the small grey oval pearls.
- The gatekeeper tells Kino and his wife that the doctor will not treat the child. Kino gets furious.
