- There is an adventurous king named Sang Nila Utama. He was restless by nature and wanted to travel to far away places.
- He loves to hunt animals. Upon hearing that there were stags in the jungles of Tanjong Bentam, he took him a great fleet of ships to head to the forest.
- Yes, Your Highness.
- Full speed ahead!
- Upon arriving on the island, he had an expedition which lasted for several hours. He slayed many wild and savage beasts, but no stags. Sang was unsatisfied.
- There are no stags around! (grunts)
- Suddenly, a large stag came out of the bush in front of Sang, shocking him. He drew his dagger and hurled it at the stag, only grazing the animal. The stag ran and Sang followed it
- A large stag! Capture it!
- Yes, Your Highness!
- The stag ran through the jungle and darted up a knoll. Sang followed the stag up the hill. Upon reaching the summit, it was nowhere to be seen. There was a large rock which Sang climbed.
- Please be careful, Your Highness.
- He saw the land and sea spread out around him. In the distance, he saw a stretch of white sand - an island. The king was fascinated by the sight of the island.
- What is that island?
- Temasek.
