Land ahoy!
On the 29 of Janruary 1840, Hobson arrived at Bay Of Islands, New Zealand.
Hobson had Henry Williams rushing to translate the treaty overnight, with his son Edward Williams.
The next morning, the british crown shared their ideas. But an argument broke out among the maori cheifs so they decided to meet again tomorrow.
When they met up again, they all discussed the treaty. And it was Hone Heke to sign first, once he did lots followed.
They had 40 signatures, but the britsh crown wanted more so with the missionaries. They went travelling around the country to get more.
On the 3 of September 1840, the last signatures were signed in Kawhia. They ended up with around 500 or more.
