  • i have a test today on quadratic equations
  • i'm not sure if i'll pass
  • really? thank u so much!!
  • i could help u, let's head to class before school starts!
  • what's wrong Emily?
  • our standard form would be 2x^2+4=0
  • okay let's say ur given -3=-2x^2-4x. first, you would have to write the quadratic equation to standard form. in order to do so u would have to move -2x^2-4x to the left which causes the negative to become a positive, positive becomes negative
  • yes! that's right
  • -3=2x^2-4x2x^2+4x 2x^2+4x2x^2+4x-3=0
  • wouldn't that make it equal 0?
  • from there we could identify a,b, c right?
  • right! 4x^2-4(2)(-3)4*4=16
  • then u solve -4(2)(-3)=24u bring down 16 add 24 which is 40.
  • after u have identified u will then substitute a,b c into the discriminant#160;
  • since it equals 40, there are 2 solutions
  • 2x^2+4x-3=0a= 2 b= 4 c= -3b^2 -4(a)(c)(4)^2 -4(2)(-3)16+2440
  • if#160; the answer is greater than 0, there are 2 solutions. if it equals 0, there is 1 solution, and if the answer negative, then there are no solutions
  • then u use the quadratic formulaand place your numbers
  • this is where you're gonna place your numbers to the corespondent letter
  • to find the 2 real solutions you will have to use the quadratic formula
  • next u will find the square root which is 40 then u figure out 2(2) equals 4.
  • then u divide them into addition and the other subtraction
  • thank u so much! i'm feeling a bit more confident!can we go over 1 more problem?
  • i felt like i did great! thanks to you
  • how'd u do Emily?
