The Cattle of the Sun God

- Unfavorable Gales
- Do not eat the cattle, or you will die!

- Angry Odysseus
- Odysseus and his men ended up on the Island of the Cattle of the Sun God. As told by Tiresias, they were forbidden from eating from the cattle. Least they want the rage of Helios, the sun god. However hunger and onshore gales makes this difficult to follow.
- Doom at Sea
- Fueled by hunger and Eurylochus's speech, Odysseus's men defied his orders while he was asleep. They slaughtered one of the cattle and Helios was enraged.
- Return of Scylla and Charybdis
- Even though the gales stopped, Zeus promised to avenge Helios while the men ate the meat, after sacrificing it. Odysseus, however, refused to eat. He was enraged due to the defiance of his orders.
- Safety
- As Odysseus and his men set off, Zeus destroyed their boat. Killing ALL of his men and sending Odysseus on a course with the tides towards the Island where Scylla is and Charybdis Whirlpool.
- Here, Odysseus had no choice but to grab onto a fig tree to wait for the mast he was using to float to resurface. Eventually, at night, Charybdis spouted the mast.
- Odysseus drifted past Scylla because the gods now gave him favor, allowing him to beach on an island and later be rescued by the Phaeacians.
