- D- Determine the Situation
- Uhh.
- I have to go to the bathroom.
- Hey, You want a cookie? It's full of pot!
- E- Examine the Options
- I can eat the cookie and possibly get addicted or I can say no and leave the unhealthy situation.
- C- Consider a Pro and Con for each Option.
- If I don't eat the cookie, everyone will call me a loser and a wimp but I will have a future that is not influenced by drugs so I can do whatever I want to in life.
- If I eat the cookie, everyone will think I'm cool but Mom and Dad will be super mad at me because this might prevent me from graduating.
- Joe is being offered a THC infused cookie at a party.
- I- Identify a Positive and Negative Influence
- My parents are a good influence since I know they would not want me to not do drugs
- Joe can accept the the cookie and eat it and possibly get addicted to marijuana or he can say no and leave the unhealthy situation.
- D-Decide and Act
- I'm all set. I've have to leave though.
- Fine wimp!
- Option 1- Pro: All the people at the party will think he’s cool for having marijuana. Con: Joe's parent’s would be really mad at him for possibly ruining his future. Option 2- Pro: Joe will have a future that is not influenced by drugs which means he can reach his full potential without a loss of IQ points. Con: Everyone at the party will call him a wimp and a loser for choosing not to eat the marijuana infused cookie.
- E- Evaluate the Decision
- This was a good decision.
- A positive influence is Joe's parents who he knows would be very upset with him. A negative influence is the people at the party who are encouraging him to eat the cookie with weed in him.
- The teens at the party are a bad influence since they are encouraging me to eat weed.
- Joe chooses to not eat the cookie and leave the party.
- I will not have an increased heartbeat which can cause a heart attack if the heartbeat increases too much. My school performance would get worse if he made the other unhealthy decision and I would not have reached my full potential otherwise because of a loss of IQ points. In marijuana edibles like the one I would have eaten, the THC takes longer to be released in my body. All those people weren’t worried about me, they just wanted to see me high.
