- 3) Underworld/Xibalba
- 1) What is this?where are we?3) Fine, we are going.
- 2) Just follow me I am the right path.I will lead you to our king.
- Intro:The Book 3 of the Popul Vuh explains how did the Quiche people portray heroism vs villainy,in the story, there is Hun-Hunaphu who had two wives the first marriage with Xquiq, mother of the twin Mayan heroes: Xbalanque and Hunhapu, and the second marriage with Xbaquilayo mother of Hunbatz and Hunchouen the monkey brothers. All these four brothers played the Mayan ball game every day with a 4kg rubber ball. The rules of the ball game were: two teams consisting of two to four players who were only allowed to hit the ball with their legs, hips, and arms but no hands.

- Setting: The ball game starts with the Quiche Mayans in midwestern modern Guatemala.
- 6) The Xibalba trap
- 1) Could i eat some fruit?
- 2) No, instead I will give something better:inmortality.
- Upon entering the underworld, the hero twins see 4 paths, one white, one black, one yellow, and one red. The black path begins to speak to them and tells the brothers to follow it.
- 12) The End
- The Xibalba lords set up Hunahpú and Xbalanque into a death trap because they were too noisy playing the game of ball.
- The two brothers obviously consume and do not return the things the lord of the underworld gave them, so the lords use this as an excuse to cancel the ball game. Finally, the Xibalba lords decapitate Hunahpú's head and hang it in a Calabash tree. After a while, diverse fruits from the tree start growing inexplicably. Which makes the consumption of any fruit prohibited.
- In the end, the hero twin brothers finally achieve their purpose of repeating the cycles of the sun, fertility, and maize.
