  • Capulet’s anger as Juliet refuses to marry Paris...
  • But fettle your fine joints 'gainst Thursday next, To go with Paris to Saint Peter's Church, Or I will drag thee on a hurdle thither.

  •  Juliet’s decision at the end of the scene...

  • Analysis: Lord Capulet scolds his daughter for rejecting the marriage set up for Juliet with Paris. He threatens to hurt her if she doesn't comply, letting Juliet say little.
  • Analysis: The Nurse tells Juliet that she'd be better off marrying Paris because he has a polite courtesy and is open for her hand. Juliet lies about her agreeing to the notion as she sends the Nurse to her mother about Juliet consulting with Friar Lawrence. 
  • Analysis: Juliet feels betrayed as the Nurse believes Romeo isn't capable of being with Juliet. Juliet tells herself she will not express her feelings to the Nurse about anyone, and knows she has the capability of ending her life if she isn't with Romeo.
