Storyboard Text
In 1502, the Maya were living happily in the Yucatan Peninsula.
Until one day Spanish explorers, lead by Hernan Cortes, came and demanded their land.
"What is this foreign beast he has with him?"
Give us your land!
The Mayan refused, which results in a bloody battle and many Mayans dead.
Those that survived retreated, and searched for new land to call home.
Unfortunately for those that survived, the Spanish also brought with them smallpox that the Mayans had no knowledge or cure for. Many more died.
In 1542, the Spanish established their capital of Merida on the Yucatan Peninsula.
The Maya Tribe destroyed.
