- When Siddhartha was born, there was a prophecy that he would become a great ruler if he did not leave his house. He eventually left his home four different times, seeing different things each time. He created a religion based on understanding the world, which was later known as buddhism.
- Siddhartha's first five sermons became his first companions. Buddhism was broken into 4 main truths. Life is filled with suffering and sorrow suffering is caused by selfishness, if you end suffering, you also end desires, and following the eightfold path. When you finish this path, you will reach the state of being called nirvana.
- According to Buddhism, anyone who wants can become a student of buddhism, also known as buddhivistas. A lot of them come to stupas which are round-top structures that people pray in, specifically for the Buddhist culture.
- The Bodhi tree is a large and sacred tree located in India. It is said that Siddhartha gained enlightenment, which is the not being born into suffering, under the tree. He was also born into a caste system, which was different social levels in India, where you would move up and down a level based on how you acted in your past life. Eventually, if someone reaches nirvana they will reach enlightenment. Siddhartha is believed to have reincarnated as the Hindu god, Vishnu, making the Bodhi Tree more of an attraction to Buddhist and Hindu followers.
