  • The Release of the Egg
  • Ovulation
  • The Journey of the Sperm
  • This is when the ovary releases an egg also know as the ovum. the ovum is a reproductive cell that is large in size compared to the other cells.
  • Fertilization
  • Ovulation is the journey the ovum takes to the sperm. It travels down the fallopian tube which have tiny hairs along the walls which helps move the ovum through.
  • Cell Division
  • There are 200 million sperm that enter the vagina after the ejaculation, but only 1000 of them reach the fallopian tube. From that, 200 reach the egg, but only 1 gets fertilized. The rest of the sperm die from acidic fluids and white blood cells.
  • Implantation
  • This stage is where one sperm has been strong enough to get through the ovums protective layer. The ovum becomes fertilized in this stage.
  • This can only take place when one egg has come completely fertilized. The chromosomes join together to divide into other cells then they form an embryo.
  • This is where the embryo adheres to the walls of the uterus. It will stay attached here until birth, this will give the embryo the oxygen and nutrients it needs from its mother.
