Storyboard Text
- The book starts off with our main character Nora Seed. She was just laid off from her job and she came home only to find her cat Volts dead on the street. She is Heartbroken since Volts was her only friend.
- "Oh Volts. Oh no. Oh god." (page. 7)
- She goes inside and sits by herself, finishing a whole bottle of wine. Once she finishes, she finds pills in her bathroom and starts to eat them all. Within a couple of hours. She overdoses and her eyes slowly shut
- Nora wakes up on the floor in front of a building. There are roman pillars and a small but grand entrance with a couple of steps. She stands up and her eyes pan the building. She decides to walk in and when she does, Nora is confused. She walks around the towering shelfs filled with moving books. As she explores she finds a woman named ms. Elm. She is the librarian. In the mist of Nora's confusion, Ms. Elm explains to Nora that she is in the midnight library, filled with books of all the different choices she could have made in life.
- "No. Listen carefully. Between life and death.... Death is outside" (page .29)
- "So am I dead?" (page .29)
- On a nearby table, there is a large book with the word, "regrets" on the cover. Ms. Elm explains to Nora that the book of regrets might help her find what life she wants to try out. She tells Nora that the reason she is here in the first place is because when she died, she felt unfulfilled. If she went into different lives and found one that she truly loved, she would stay there.
- "Every regret you have ever had, since the day you were born, is recorded in here.
- "Make it stop!" (page .37)
- After Nora looks though the book of regrets, she decides she wants to live a life where she is still with her husband Dan. Ms. Elm nods her head in a matter of fact way and grins. She effortlessly pull out a massive book from the shelve holding it with one hand. She explains to Nora that she will get better at choosing lives but it was her choice to make. Ms.Elm places the book down and Nora opens it.
- "which regret stands out? which decision would you like to undo? Which life would you like to try on?" (page .38)
- "I wish I hadn't left Dan....Is there a life where we are still together?" (page. 39)
- Nora wakes up on the ground of a pub. She immediately knows where she is. Dan always had a dream to start a pub. She walks around to find different people talking to her even though she has no idea who any of these people are. Nora looks around for some clue and sees that the clock say 12:04 am. Was it 12:00 am when she got there. As she keeps exploring she finds Dan flirting with another girl.....
- "Dan?"
