- After the British victory over the Seven Years' War that occurred in Europe, a treaty was signed for France to give up all of the land they had claimed in North America to the British colonists.
- Boston Tea Party (1773)

- British politicians were expecting to be paid back by the colonies for their efforts in defending them. Because of this, Parliament made new laws on taxes and practically everything had increased. (Economic Effect)
- Intolerable Acts (1774)
- I take back what I said. These people are intolerable.
- The Colonists were unhappy that they had to pay so much money on taxes. Their resistance to this caused Parliament to repeal some of the laws they made, including the Stamp Act. (Political effect)
- British Troops Respond (1775)

- Colonists were angry with the British government. They expressed their frustrations by disguising themselves and throwing the shipment of tea over the Boston port. (Social Effect)

- The Intolerable Acts was passed soon after the events of the Boston Tea Party had taken place and the port in Boston closing.
- British troops were threatened by the colonies resisting their laws and seized their guns and gunpowder.
