  • Education
  •  Education for us children is we’re sent to work instead of to school. We learned trades, such as leatherworking and metalworking, to help earn money for our families. 
  • The education of boys and girls in rich life get tutored by our fathers intil the age of six. After the age of six boys go off to private or public schooling homes. 
  • Housing
  • We have to live in small apartments above the shops where we work. Our apartments are cramped, noisy, and dirty. 
  • Our wealthy woman of Rome lives in a grand house, built of stone and marble. An indoor pool helped to keep the atrium cool. We also have an opening on the roof to let in natural lighting.
  • Family
  • In our families, husbands and wives have to work in order to feed and care for ourselves and the children. 
  • Us rich people our husbands often held well-paid political positions. Wealthy Roman women run the households. They bought and trained the family's slaves. Many had money of their own and were active in business. They bought and sold property.
  • Food and Drink
  •  For dinner, we have chunks of fish along with some asparagus and a fig for dessert.
  • Only us rich people had a kitchen in our homes. Us wealthy Romans ate elaborate dinners, mice cooked in honey, roasted parrots stuffed with dates, salted jellyfish, and snails dipped in milk.
